Sometimes cataloguers are faced with choices as what to put in a series heading. To ensure consistency it has been decided to list problems that are known and provide the chosen format or 'house style' for UL.

French series headingsEdit

Many French series headings start with the words ‘Collection’. This gives the cataloguer the choice as to whether or not to include 'Collection' in the series title. The preferred house format for such headings will retain the word 'Collection' and will put the specific name of the collection in quotation marks.

For example:
Collection “Histoire” ;$v42
Collection “Critiques littéraires”

Note the quotation marks and the capital as the quotation marks open.

Due to problems with Talis we are going to leave out quotation marks

For example:
Collection Histoire ;$v42
Collection Critiques littéraires
